Dear Reader,


I really liked the story The King and His Hawk by James Baldwin. This story is about Genghis Kahn and his pet hawk. He went hunting and got very thirsty. He filled his cup from a slowly dripping spring. His hawk knocked his cup from his hands before he could drink! This happened several times, so the king got angry and killed the hawk. The king climbed up to drink from the spring and he had a surprise! It was filled with a dead, poisonous snake. The king was sorry that he had killed the hawk that had tried to protect him.
